Cameroonian businessman Edison Fru Ndi has received international recognition for his contribution to community development, earning the Outstanding Leadership in Community Development award at the 7th Global Changemakers Awards held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The award, presented by Project 100 on November 3, 2026, recognises Fru Ndi's work in business development, infrastructure delivery and community support, particularly in Cameroon's conflict-affected North-West Region.
Fru Ndi, Chief Executive Officer of Dreamland Connect PLC, has built his business interests around several sectors, including construction, telecommunications, hospitality and industrial production. Over the years, his investments have also contributed to employment creation and development initiatives within the region.
One of the major projects associated with his company is the construction of the North-Western Mutan Market at Mile 6 Nkwen in Bamenda. The project, valued at approximately CFA 411 million and initiated by the North-West Regional Assembly, provides 54 market sheds, solar-powered electricity, a borehole with a 10,000-litre water storage capacity and sanitation facilities.
The market is expected to provide a more organised trading environment and improve conditions for traders and other economic operators in the area.
His involvement in reconstruction efforts has also extended to the education sector. Through collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme under the Presidential Plan for Reconstruction and Development, Dreamland Connect PLC rehabilitated 27 classrooms in seven blocks at Government Bilingual High School Bamenda. The company also supplied 810 benches and other educational facilities. Fru Ndi further supported improvements at the institution with personal resources.
In another show of support for public services, the businessman provided assistance worth CFA 3.5 million to the Bamenda Regional Hospital in July 2026, following a fire incident at the health facility.
His investments in quarrying and aggregate production have equally contributed to construction activities while providing employment opportunities for young people in the region.
The Nairobi recognition is not the first honour to come his way this year. In September 2026, Fru Ndi received the North-West Development Pillar Award from the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA) in recognition of his contribution to economic development and reconstruction.
His business journey and community involvement were also highlighted in BLISS Magazine's 15th Collector's Edition, titled *From Dust to Dynasty: The Man, The Impact, The Legacy*. The 120-page publication documented his entrepreneurial journey, investments and contributions to society.
For a region still grappling with the effects of the ongoing crisis, investments in infrastructure, education, employment and essential services remain important to its recovery. Fru Ndi's recognition in Nairobi therefore brings attention to the contribution of local entrepreneurs who continue to invest in the North-West despite the challenges.
The latest award adds to his growing list of recognitions and places his work in the spotlight beyond Cameroon.
