In recognition of his unwavering commitment to relief management and service to displaced populations, the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA) has officially decorated Civil Administrator Nchofon Mingoh with the 2026 CENPA Award of Excellence.
The award celebrates Nchofon Mingoh, who serves as the Assistant Divisional Officer (DO) of Bamenda I Subdivision and doubles as the Coordinator of the Government Emergency Humanitarian Plan (EHAP) Centre in Bamenda. The award was formally presented on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the EHAP Centre in Bamenda by Choves Loh, representing CENPA on behalf of the Association President Kristian Ngah Christian.
The EHAP Centre was established by presidential decree in 2019 with the sole aim of delivering vital assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable populations affected by the socio-political crisis in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon. Under Mingoh’s leadership, the centre has directly assisted over 250,000 vulnerable individuals across the North West Region. In addition to distributing essential food and non-food items such as rice, buckets, soap, and mattresses, the centre serves as a daily sanctuary offering crucial psychosocial support to individuals traumatized by the conflict.
Speaking after receiving the honor, Mingoh shared what inspired his deep personal commitment to humanitarian work in the region.
"When I came to the Northwest here, the very first person that touched my heart was one young man who came here who was well-to-do and because of the crisis he lost everything," Mingoh reflected. "So when he recounted the story to me, from that day I decided to sacrifice my effort, my energy to see that anybody who comes to this humanitarian office, even if you are not assisted on that day, you go back with a lot of hope, you go back happily..."
Mingoh noted that this represents the fifth award he has received for his humanitarian contributions in the region, calling it a powerful motivator to elevate his efforts.
"Each time I receive an award like this, it motivates me, it gives me more energy, it's like a wake-up call to me to do better than I've been doing," he stated. "If I'm at level five, I should take it to level seven..."
With the ongoing for displaced families, Mingoh also issued a call for fairness and community mindfulness regarding relief distributions:
"This assistance is solely for those that have been affected by the crisis... I want to use this opportunity to equally call on those that have benefited already that when you benefit once, you can give the chance to others who have not yet benefited..."
Recognizing Excellence in Public Service Representing CENPA during the ceremony, Choves Loh emphasized the critical role public administrators play in serving the nation during times of crisis. CENPA, which brings together 43 English-language publishers across Cameroon, selects award nominees based on outstanding dedication, leadership, and service to the nation.
