Cameroon’s U20 Lions have secured qualification for the 2027 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Ghana after coming from behind to beat Gabon 4-1 in the semi-final of the UNIFFAC tournament.
The young Indomitable Lions showed character and attacking quality to turn the game around, with Joachim Songue leading the charge with two goals. Samuel Achu and Bengono Manga also found the back of the net to complete the emphatic victory.
The result confirms Cameroon’s place at next year’s continental showpiece, giving the team an opportunity to compete against some of Africa’s best young football talents.
The victory also sets up a final showdown with the Central African Republic, who have equally secured qualification for the 2027 U20 AFCON after reaching the final of the UNIFFAC competition.
With both finalists guaranteed places at the tournament in Ghana, the final will now offer Cameroon another opportunity to finish the regional competition on a high.
For the U20 Lions, qualification marks an important step in their campaign and a chance to carry Cameroon’s colours onto the continental stage in 2027.
