Cameroon Bar Association: Mbah Eric Retained as Batonnier for Second Term

Barista Mbah Eric, also known as Mbah Eric Mbah, has been re-elected as the President of the Cameroon Bar Association for a second two-year term. The election, which took place on July 15, 2025, in Yaoundé, saw Mbah Eric secure 1001 votes, defeating his closest rivals, Ngo Minyongo with 749 votes, Anne Yoland with 338 votes, and Phillips Memong with 265 votes. This victory marks a significant milestone for Mbah Eric, who has been instrumental in judicial reforms and advocating for stronger institutional independence for the Bar.

During his campaign launch in Bamenda NWR, Mbah Eric emphasized his vision for the Bar's future, including the construction of a CFA 6 billion worth Bar Head-office in Yaoundé. He also plans to create a roadmap for the Bar's next generation by engaging in long-lasting projects and enhancing the relationship with the Chancellery and diplomatic partners.

Mbah Eric's re-election has been well-received, particularly by the Anglophone communities in the North West and South West regions. However, his victory has also broken the traditional Francophone-Anglophone power-sharing convention within the Bar Association, as the leadership is now entirely in the hands of Anglophone lawyers.
