EDISON FRU NDI DEDICATES CENPA "NORTH WEST DEVELOPMENT PILLAR" AWARD TO TEAM WORK AND UNCOMPROMISING QUALITY
Edison Fru Ndi, CEO of Dreamland Connect PLC, received the "North West Development Pillar" award at the 2026 CENPA Awards. Dedicated to his team, the honor recognizes his resilience in executing landmark projects like the Mutan Market amidst tough regional challenges, maintaining uncompromised quality, and championing sustainable youth empowerment.
In an era where regional socio-economic headwinds have stalled major infrastructure projects across Cameroon's North West Region, local enterprise and resilient leadership continue to forge a path forward. At the center of this transformation is Edison Fru Ndi, Chief Executive Officer of Dreamland Connect PLC, whose developmental strides recently earned him the prestigious "North West Development Pillar" award at the 2026 Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA) Awards.
The award explicitly recognizes Fru Ndi for championing economic progress and spurring job creation—most notably through the successful realization of the landmark Mutan Market Project, which has generated hundreds of employment opportunities for local youths despite complex operational challenges. In an exclusive interview with Eagle Eye Africa, the business leader spoke candidly about executing large-scale engineering feats under pressure, maintaining uncompromised operational standards, and his long-term vision for youth empowerment.
Responding to the recognition, Fru Ndi dedicated the honor to his team's collective endurance rather than personal ambition, stating that he receives the recognition with profound gratitude and humility, regarding it not merely as a personal honour, but as recognition of the resilience, courage, and sacrifice of the entire Dreamland Connect team.
Executing the Mutan Market project required navigating a delicate operating landscape marked by security concerns, supply chain disruptions, and escalating material inflation. According to Fru Ndi, overcoming these barriers demanded tactical risk management, continuous site presence, and deep community integration.
He explained that despite being implemented in an extremely challenging environment, they remained focused on providing modern commercial infrastructure and creating opportunities for traders and young Cameroonians. Their greatest operational strength was a refusal to allow adversity to become an excuse for failure—anticipating risks, mobilizing materials whenever movement was possible, engaging local labour, and deploying equipment and financial resources strategically.
Across its diverse portfolio—spanning civil engineering, rock quarrying, procurement, and hospitality—Dreamland Connect PLC operates under a strict mandate: "Build it correctly the first time". When asked how the company maintains quality control while operating under tight constraints, Fru Ndi emphasized that leadership integrity and operational discipline cannot be sacrificed for speed or convenience.
He noted that the guiding phrase is a discipline that shapes every decision, and while operating in the North West Region has taught them resilience and innovation, it has never persuaded them to compromise on quality. Difficult circumstances may affect the speed or cost of execution, but they should never become justification for careless work.
He added that quality starts at the executive level, as a leader cannot demand discipline, integrity, and excellence from others without demonstrating those same values through active involvement, listening to teams, and correcting shortcomings promptly.
Beyond immediate project deliveries, Fru Ndi views infrastructure development as a foundational tool for regional stability and long-term peace. For Dreamland Connect PLC, youth empowerment extends beyond short-term interventions into structural capacity building.
He asserted that youth empowerment must go beyond speeches and temporary assistance, as young people need practical skills, mentorship, discipline, access to opportunity, and the confidence to start small and grow steadily. To support this, the enterprise intends to create more apprenticeships, technical training opportunities, and sustainable jobs.
Looking toward the future, the company aims to establish a lasting institution capable of driving multi-sector growth across Cameroon. His broader vision is to develop Dreamland Connect PLC into a strong, diversified, and sustainable Cameroonian company that creates value across construction, quarrying, hospitality, manufacturing, and other productive sectors, believing that every completed project, functioning business, and employed young person is a step towards stability, lasting peace, and shared prosperity.
