Addressing delegates, administrators, and community stakeholders on September 12 at the Ndop Community Hall and the Women's Empowerment and Family Center (WEFC), the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Ngoketunjia, Handerson Quetong Kongeh, called on all local actors—including parents, traditional rulers, politicians, and elites—to prioritize children's access to education. "Everywhere in the world, the fundamental demand is for mass, accessible education," Kongeh stated during the proceedings. "It is unacceptable for any struggle to target the education of future generations." The SDO urged teachers, particularly those in public institutions, to report to their posts as mandated by the state. He emphasized that administrative tracking of matriculation numbers and operational credits will be enforced strictly to ensure staff presence on campuses. He also assured personnel that local security services are coordinating measures to safeguard school communities across divisional and sub-divisional headquarters. Despite recent regional disruptions, local officials highlighted Ngoketunjia's academic performance, noting that the division secured second place overall in national examination results like GCE during the previous academic term. At the Secondary Education Sector Conference, held under the theme "Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence for Inclusive Governance and Quality Teaching and Learning in a Healthy and Protective Environment," the Divisional Delegate Emmanuel Ndifonchowara outlined plans to incorporate technology into the local curriculum. Ndifonchowara noted that the initial focus will center on staff orientation and student awareness regarding artificial intelligence and digital tools, ensuring safe implementation in the classroom. He added that the delegation intends to work with regional and ministerial bodies to expand access to multimedia resources, building on existing infrastructure at pilot institutions like GBHS Ndop. "Our objective is to maintain academic standards while continuously improving student participation across both public and private sectors," Ndifonchowara said, adding that administrative teams will conduct field visits across various quarters to engage families directly. Concurrently, the Basic Education conference gathered sub-divisional inspectors, headteachers, and administrative personnel under the theme "Reading, Writing, Arithmetic: A Shared Commitment, a Pledge for Pupils." Representing the Divisional Delegate for Basic Education, Mme Ntani Mayone (Chief of Service for Administrative Administration and Finance) reported a 90 percent administrative readiness rate across the division following preparatory meetings at the regional, divisional, and sub-divisional levels. Mayone emphasized that strengthening foundational skills in reading, writing, and basic mathematics remains the primary operational focus for primary schools in the division, noting a steady year-on-year increase in pupil enrollment across participating centers. As administrative directives take effect, local authorities continue to coordinate efforts across Ndop and surrounding sub-divisions to support the safe return of teachers and students to the classroom for the 2026/2027 academic year.
