Mbengwi Hosts Meta Unity and Sports Tournament, Fostering Peace and Development

The 2nd edition of the Meta Unity and Sports Tournament kicked off on July 5, 2025, in Mbengwi, bringing together youths from various villages in the Meta community. Organized by the Ndangoh Calvin's Foundation, the tournament aims to promote peace, development, and progress in the region through sports.

Barrister Ndangoh Tah Calvin, Vision Bearer of the foundation, emphasized the importance of unity and peace in the community. "Football is a unifying factor," he said. "I started this tournament last year, and it was a huge success. This year, we're building on that momentum to bring our people together in peace and love."

The tournament features new disciplines, including girls' football and boys' handball, alongside a cross-country race. The opening matches saw Bafmeng girls defeat Mbengwi girls 6-0, while Njembeng boys beat Abi Falls boys 5-1.

Barrister Ndangoh Calvin's initiative has been praised for its focus on youth engagement and community development. "The more tournaments the youths have to play, the better for the subdivision," he stressed. "It will keep them busy and help them flee from deviant behavior."

When asked about potential political motivations, Barrister Ndangoh Calvin was clear: "Football doesn't know votes. Football knows only goals. When the time for politics comes, we'll play politics. For now, all I want is to bring my people together in peace and love."

The Meta Unity and Sports Tournament will run until August 22, 2025, with a budget of 5 million Francs CFA. As the competition unfolds, the community looks forward to witnessing the positive impact of sports on peace and development in Mbengwi.
